Mölnlycke Health Care Launches New Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System In Collaboration With Medela AG

Mölnlycke Health Care, a world leading manufacturer of single-use surgical and wound care products and services for the professional health care sector, announces the European launch of Avance™, a new negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system, to meet the needs of nurses and patients. The system has been developed in collaboration with Swiss based company Medela AG, which specialises in medical vacuum technology.
The new Avance system is designed to be more convenient for health care professionals and patients and features a range of benefits to enhance ease of use and patient comfort. The portable Avance system can be used throughout the therapy and is suitable for use in hospital or the home. Having just one system means less training required for staff and an easier transition from hospital to home for patients.
The Avance pump is lightweight and comes with a unique docking station, giving patients greater mobility. It can be used with a choice of dressing kits, depending on the wound and a patient’s needs. For added comfort, kits are also available with Mepitel, the wound contact layer with Safetac® technology, which minimises pain and trauma at dressing removal.
Phil Cooper, President of the Wound Care Division at Mölnlycke Health Care, says: “Through our strong collaboration with Medela, we have created a high quality, reliable negative pressure wound therapy system; meeting the needs of both health care professionals and patients. We listened to customer demand and used our extensive experience in developing world-leading wound care and surgical products and services to find an effective solution. With fifty years experience in producing innovative and safe medical vacuum technology, Medela was the ideal company for us to work with to develop Avance.”
Peter Höst, CEO of Medela Healthcare, says: “We were pleased to work together with Mölnlycke Health Care to develop Avance. We are both key players in our respective industries and have gained a wealth of experience over many years. We have played to our strengths to develop a system that is technically advanced while at the same time easy to use for health care professionals and convenient for patients.”
The Avance system is available to rent, either in the short or long term or to purchase. Mölnlycke Health Care will provide clinical and technical support, along with initial training and ongoing advice.
