Surgical gowns: From basic to advanced levels of protection

Our range has been designed to provide the optimum combination of protection and comfort – from short, low-fluid procedures to long, complicated high-fluid procedures. The Primary range comply with EN137951. All other BARRIER surgical gowns comply with both EN13795 and AAMI1, 2.

Our surgical gown range consists of five main material platforms:

 

PRIMARY – SMS

  • Nonwoven polypropylene fibres
  • Spunbond for strength, meltblown for repellency
  • Lightweight material for mobility and flexibility
  • Fluid repellent material for low-fluid procedures
  • T-cut design for good fit
  • Available in Standard and High Performance gowns

UNIVERSAL – SMS

  • Nonwoven polypropylene fibres
  • Suitable for procedures with medium to high amount of fluids
  • Spunbond for strength, meltblown for repellency
  • Long sleeves to prevent cuff movement
  • Available in Standard and High Performance gowns

CLASSIC – Spunlace

  • Nonwoven pulp/polyester fibres
  • Soft for increased comfort
  • Fluid repellent spunlace material for medium fluid protection
  • Ergonomic fit, for greater freedom of movement
  • Suitable for most procedures
  • Available in Standard and High Performance gowns

ULTIMATE – Soft SMS

  • Nonwoven polypropylene fibres
  • Soft and noiseless material
  • Maximum breathability for ultimate comfort
  • Highly fluid repellent for advanced protection
  • Ergonomic fit, for greater freedom of movement
  • Available in Standard and High Performance gowns

FLUID PROTECTION PLUS (FPP) – Laminate

  • Two-ply laminate
  • The micropores allow air and moisture to move from the body to the outside of the gown and the film protects against blood and fluid penetration, the comfort layer against the skin incrase the comfort of the gown
  • Lightweight, breathable material for thermal comfort
  • Micropores combat perspiration, while polyethylene film prevents fluid penetration
  • Impermeable to fluids over the entire surface area
  • Ergonomic fit, for greater freedom of movement
  • Suitable for procedures with high fluid levels

Minimize risk for strikethrough

All BARRIER high-performing surgical gowns are reinforced in the critical zone, in front and in the sleeves, to maximize protection against contamination of the surgical wound. All of our gowns comply with the requirements of European Directive EN 137951 for high-performing surgical gowns.
