Restoring smiles worldwide

December 17 2014

Throughout 2014, Mölnlycke Health Care has been celebrating ten years of its relationship with Operation Smile, the charity which provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe.

Every year, the company donates almost quarter of a million pairs of Biogel® surgical gloves and 10,000 wound care products to Operation Smile – as well as contributing financially. Staff can also volunteer to take part in a mission. So far, over 30 employees have helped to restore smiles on faces, everywhere from Bolivia to India.

"Our wound care and surgical supplies help to treat millions of patients around the world," said Maarten van Beek, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Communications at Mölnlycke Health Care.

"But the work we do with Operation Smile is special. Every year our people come back from medical missions with amazing stories of transformed young faces and overjoyed parents. We look forward to supporting this life-changing work well into the future."

Mission to Brazil

This year the company donated 50% of the funding to support a mission in Brazil in September. During the mission, 84 patients received life-changing cleft palate and cleft lip surgery. The team also carried out post-operative checks on a number of former patients. You can find more about the mission to Brazil on or for more information about Operation Smile visit.
