Biogel adds two new surgical gloves with improved grip to non-latex polyisoprene line

Biogel® PI UltraTouch® G and Biogel® PI UltraTouch® M offer additional choice in texture, grip and control.

DENVER (MARCH 15, 2010)

Mölnlycke Health Care, the maker of Biogel® gloves, today introduced two new surgical gloves featuring enhanced grip to its Biogel non-latex polyisoprene (PI) line. The announcement was made at the AORN Congress 2010 in Denver.

The new Biogel PI UltraTouch G is typically 15 percent thinner than the current Biogel® PI and offers improved sensitivity, a curved finger and a micro-roughened surface. The Biogel PI UltraTouch M features a textured surface with a straight finger. Available nationwide April 1, both gloves offer a specialized manufacturing process to create extra grip and control.

“U.S. health care workers have different needs when it comes to texture, grip and sensitivity in their surgical gloves,” said Carolyn Twomey, RN, BSN, Global Head of Clinical Services for Mölnlycke Health Care. “That’s why we’ve expanded the Biogel non-latex PI product line to offer more choices to those looking for enhanced grip in a high-quality, non-latex surgical glove.”

The new gloves can be worn alone or with the Biogel® PI Indicator™ Underglove as part of Biogel’s Patented Puncture Indication System™.1 Biogel PI UltraTouch G and Biogel PI UltraTouch M both offer the fit, feel and comfort of latex while providing optimal grip for a range of surgical procedures or surgeries where latex allergies are a concern for patients or clinicians.

“Latex allergies can significantly affect both patients and health care workers,” said Twomey. “By using non-latex surgical gloves, facilities can eliminate unnecessary glove-related latex allergic reactions and the potential costs associated with them.”

Biogel surgical gloves are 100 percent powder-free and offer an industry-leading acceptable quality level (AQL) freedom from holes of 0.65. Every glove is air inflation-tested and visually inspected for quality and user confidence and exceeds industry standards for force at break, tensile strength and elongation.2
