Mepilex Border Ag

Mepilex® Border Ag is a soft silicone foam dressing composed of a Safetac soft silicone wound contact layer, an absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing silver ion compounds and activated carbon, an absorbent polyacrylate layer, and a water-proof, breathable, bacteria-blocking non-woven protective film. It absorbs exudate to maintain a moist wound environment. Mepilex Border Ag contains silver sulphate, which releases silver ions upon contact with wound exudate. Safetac® technology Safetac® is a soft silicone adhesive technology. It minimises pain to patients and trauma to wounds at dressing removal. Safetac® reduces pain by: 1. Adhering gently to dry surfaces such as intact skin, while avoiding adherence to moist wound surfaces, like open wounds; 2. Conforming to skin pores and large surface areas, effectively preventing denudation of epithelial cells at dressing removal; 3. Sealing the wound area, preventing leakage of exudate onto surrounding skin and minimizing the risk for maceration.
