Creating a Consensus document for surgical gloving best practice podcast (part 1)

The first part of this podcast discusses the need to create a Consensus document with recommendations for surgical gloving best practice.

Hands are the most important tool in the operating room. Gloves protect the hands and are an essential part of maintaining the aseptic barrier during the surgical procedure. Many glove users don’t know how gloves are made, the different materials they can be made from and what impact that might have on durability and performance.

Most users are also unaware that there is a wide variety of surgical glove styles to choose from, with different fits on the hand. At the end of the day, these differences could affect surgical performance and safety as well as long term hand health.

In this episode, Dr Tod Brindle will also address some of the challenges a consensus work group is likely to face when performing a systematic review1 using the PRISMA methodology2, while preventing selection bias3 and using the Delphi method for the voting process.
