Mölnlycke launches MyFit™ by Biogel® to bring more inclusive sizing to surgical gloves
Atlanta, Georgia. 13 October 2026. No two pairs of hands are the same, yet surgical glove sizing has changed little over time. Mölnlycke Health Care (Mölnlycke®), a global leader in MedTech, is launching MyFit™ by Biogel®, a more inclusive range of surgical glove fit options designed to better reflect the diversity of clinicians’ hand anatomy and help more healthcare professionals find a glove that supports comfort, safety and performance – all critical in the operating room.

New research shows that one in three (32%) surgical glove users with smaller hands want better-fitting or more customized glove sizing options.1 Wider research also highlights the challenge of glove fit for women, with nearly half (44%) reporting that their current glove size is not a good fit.2
In surgery, millimeters matter. Poorly fitting gloves can affect both comfort and performance. Excess material in the fingertips may reduce tactile sensitivity and dexterity, while tightness across the palm can limit hand movement.3, 4 These issues may also increase the risk of glove breaches during surgery, with potential implications for operating room safety protocols.5
Traditional surgical glove sizing relies primarily on palm width measurements and often fails to account for differences in finger length and hand anatomy, forcing many clinicians to compromise between palm comfort and fingertip precision.1, 2
“Hands are a surgeon’s most important instrument in the operating room. The right glove fit is not a nice-to-have; it is critical to comfort, safety and performance. More inclusive sizing means fewer surgical team members have to settle for gloves that do not support them at their best,” says Dr. Abhishek Chatterjee, Chief of Plastic Surgery at Tufts Medical Center, MA, USA, and the lead author of a 2025 systematic literature review on surgical glove fit and provider performance.3
Developed using extensive research and 3D hand measurement data from 780 clinicians, MyFit™ by Biogel® introduces an expanded range of sizing options designed to better reflect the diversity of real-world hand anatomy.6 By offering more inclusive sizing options for clinicians who fall between standard sizes or outside conventional fit profiles, MyFit™ by Biogel® increases the likelihood of finding a glove that supports comfort, dexterity and protection without compromise.
“For more than 40 years, Biogel® has been trusted by surgical teams around the world. With MyFit™ by Biogel®, we are taking the next step by offering sizing options that better reflect the diversity of clinicians’ hands, so more people can work with confidence, comfort and control,” says Katriina Öberg, Executive Vice President Gloves at Mölnlycke Health Care.
