Join us for this one-hour event to learn about burns and to acquire practical knowledge and skills in applying evidence-based interventions and solutions.
Objectives
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about:
- Identify and define burn depth
- Compare how burn assessment challenges differ across skin tones and age groups
- Apply burn assessment concepts to diverse case scenarios to deepen clinical understanding
- Define instances where burn center referrals are recommended
All attendees will have the chance to participate in a question-and-answer session following the presentation.

Lindsay Burnett MN NP CBRN
Since 2006, Lindsay has been a dedicated member of the Foothills Medical Centre, beginning her career as a Registered Nurse in the burn unit. She went on to serve as the Clinical Nurse Educator for 11 years before stepping into her current role as Nurse Practitioner for the burn program in 2022. In this capacity, Lindsay provides direct clinical care to patients in both the inpatient unit and outpatient clinic, while also playing an active role in teaching and research.
Throughout her career, Lindsay has held numerous leadership positions, including President of the Canadian Association of Burn Nurses, Co-Chair of the Foothills Medical Centre Burn Quality Committee and Chair of the Aftercare and Reintegration Committee with the American Burn Association. In 2023, she was recognized as a “Hero in Health” ambassador by the Calgary Health Foundation.
Her teaching, research and quality improvement interests focus on patient-centered outcomes in burn and scar management, acute pain, quality improvement and advancing nursing leadership.
