Michele Deppisch

”Within each individual there is a desire to do their best work every day. Their ‘why’ is not financial reward; it is to help others and ease their suffering.”
Michele Deppisch US Panel member
Who is Michele Deppisch?
Michele Deppisch has worked in healthcare for 48 years and has dedicated the last 18 years of her career to wound care. Her experience spans acute care, outpatient wound clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home healthcare and the wound care industry. Today, she works as a wound care consultant and devotes much of her time to the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP), where she serves as President Elect and contributes to pressure injury prevention initiatives.
Her journey into healthcare began while studying pre-medicine, when an unexpected encounter with the Dean of the Physical Therapy programme at Chapel Hill introduced her to physical therapy. Later, during a clinical placement in a burn centre, she discovered a fascination for skin and its ability to heal – a moment that shaped her future path.
Michele hopes that The Silent Hero Awards will help recognise the healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to improve patient care and prevention. She believes that recognising their dedication can inspire others and show wound care teams that their work and commitment truly matter.
