The Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme (CWCS) is an Australian Government initiative launched in June 2025, designed to reduce the financial burden of chronic wound care by providing fully-funded access to essential wound care products.
As a proud supplier under the scheme, Mölnlycke® offers a trusted range of advanced wound care solutions that are now available at no cost to eligible patients - helping improve outcomes, reduce stress, and support healing in the community.

Who qualifies for CWCS?

Diagnosis
Patient has type 1 or type 2 diabetes and a confirmed hard-to-heal (chronic) wound — such as a diabetic foot ulcer.

Age threshold
65 years and over for medicare qualified people — or 50 years and over for First Nations people.

Wound type
Includes diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pressure injuries and other hard-to-heal wounds — not acute surgical wounds.

Patients are not eligible for this scheme if they receive wound care or funding through:
- the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
- the Department of Veterans' Affairs rehabilitation and treatment programs, including Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS) dressings
- Australian Government-funded residential aged care homes, Home Care Packages or the Community Home Support Program
- public or community wound clinics run by or on behalf of state and territory governments that fund wound care products
- public and private hospitals – including post-operative and outpatient care.
