New consensus document highlights need to address post-operative blistering to improve patient outcomes

A new international consensus document on post-operative blistering in surgical incision wounds reflects this commitment. Developed by a global panel of experts in partnership with the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) and sponsored by Mölnlycke, the publication brings together the latest evidence and expert perspectives on a complication that can affect patient comfort, wound healing, infection risk and recovery.
Presented at WUWHS 2026 in Kuala Lumpur by Karen Ousey, Daniel Chaverri and Paul Chadwick, the consensus calls for greater awareness, more consistent assessment and stronger clinical evidence to help healthcare professionals address post-operative blistering in practice.

The consensus also highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable skin, an area where Mölnlycke has long been a leader through Safetac® technology.
