Addressing a highly prevalent side effect of breast cancer radiotherapy

Radiotherapy‑induced skin damage (RISD) is a very common adverse effect of breast cancer radiotherapy, affecting up to 95% of patients 1. The risk is particularly high in women receiving post‑mastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) and in patients with larger breasts 2.
RISD can lead to acute pain, erythema, moist desquamation, and skin breakdown. These reactions may significantly impact patient comfort and quality of life, adding to the physical and emotional burden experienced during cancer treatment and, in some cases, challenging treatment tolerability. -

Across several randomised controlled trials, Mepitel® Film with Safetac® technology has been clinically demonstrated to reduce the severity of radiotherapy‑induced skin damage 3-5.
