2025 Future Summit by Mölnlycke Health Care
Smarter incision care and partnerships are key to enhanced clinical practise and improved patient outcomes

How can smarter incision care become a frontline defence against healthcare acquired infections? The recent 2025 Future Summit, arranged by Mölnlycke Health Care, highlighted that innovation, education and partnerships are essential to enhancing clinical practice and empowering healthcare professionals to improve post-operative patient outcomes.
The Future Summit held in the Netherlands on 6-7 October gathered over 130 international healthcare professionals from vascular, orthopaedic, general, and plastic surgery specialties.
“At Mölnlycke, we believe that education is a cornerstone of progress, and we were thrilled to bring together such a diverse and accomplished group of experts. It was inspiring to hear how important incisions are for surgeons; how protecting that incision is protecting the hours of work they have put in underneath it,” says Emma Wright, Chief Medical Officer at Mölnlycke Health Care.
Presided over by renowned experts Professor Javad Parvizi and Mr. Ibby Younis, the Future Summit provided a platform to explore cutting-edge advancements, share best practices, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration in wound care and surgical excellence.
A key focus was reducing Surgical Site Infections (SSIs), which remain a significant challenge in post-operative care. Also, undisturbed wound healing versus more frequent dressing changes is an issue that divides the medical profession.
Daniel Chaverri, Orthopaedic Surgeon and President of the Spanish Society of Wounds, agrees.
“The less we manipulate the wound, the better is the chance to avoid infections and other complications. Normally, we put the first dressing on in the operating room and change it after seven days,” he explains.
What can Mölnlycke do to improve the situation?
“Clinicians need a broad wound care portfolio to match the wide variety of patients and procedures they manage. It is our job to help support change by demonstrating the significant value our innovative solutions, such as Avance Solo, Mepilex Border Post-Op and Granudacyn, bring to clinical protocols and patient outcomes,” Nick Rothwell explains.
Protecting patients and clinicians from healthcare acquired conditions such as infections and pressure ulcers is at the very core of Mölnlycke’s offering and a cornerstone of sustainable healthcare delivery. Every infection, injury, or complication adds pressure—both in terms of cost and time—to overstretched systems and puts patients and healthcare professionals at risk. By empowering clinicians with the latest evidence and practical knowledge, Mölnlycke helps prevent incidents that negatively impact patients’ quality of life, reduce variation in care, and support more sustainable healthcare systems.
