Pressure ulcers are a pain.
Pressure injuries are a growing problem that affects practically every aspect of a health system. Hospital-acquired pressure ulcers and injuries are causing significant patient harm and treatment is becoming increasingly expensive
Skin tears. Easy to miss. But easy to treat
Skin tears are a common injury among elderly patients with fragile skin. They can be caused by every day accidents such as falling over or bumping into furniture, as well as friction from clothing or new surfaces such as a wheelchair or hospital bed. Anyone who is caring for elderly patients should be aware of skin tears. They can be painful and upsetting for patients who are affected, but are frequently ignored, misdiagnosed or mistreated.
A survey has found that needlestick injuries are far more common than previously thought. In April 2019, Mölnlycke® commissioned a first of its kind survey from SERMO, the largest global social network for physicians.
